School Leaders
With these two pages, I read about the people who play a big role in schools. They are the principals. Four individual principals were chosen in 2007 to accept the Time Warner: Principals of Excellence Awards. We may not know it, but, principals have a lot of responsibilities. Expectations of them are high and resources are sometimes limited. These two ladies here are Dr. Sandye Poitier-Johnson and Ruth N. Quiles. Dr. Johnson is the principal of our school (TMA). Ruth N. Quiles is the principal of P.S. 131.We may not know it, but, principals have a lot of responsibilities. The demands placed on our principals make their jobs among the most challenging ever. Before being the principal of Thurgood Marshall Academy, Dr. Johnson was a special education teacher in Brooklyn. When Ruth Quiles arrived at P.S. 131, it was identified as a School in Need of Improvement. These 2 women have bettered these 2 schools.

My Goals and Dreams For the Future
I have a one specific goal and dream for the future. I have always wanted to be an author. I also have always wanted to attend Princeton. I love to write books. Princeton is an expensive school and I hope to get a scholarship so I can attend that school. I hope that I never stop writing because it is one of my favorite hobbies and hopefully it will be my career. If I don't get to attend Princeton, I would like to attend New York University because I could get into journalism there. I heard New York University are colleagues with Scholastic books. So I could further my writing career from New York University.

Here's One Famous Person I Admire
The name of this actor is Zac Efron. He plays Troy Bolton in High school Musical 3. I think that he has grown up a lot and become more sophisticated. In High school Musical 1, Zac Efron had long hair. Over the years, he has done a lot of growing up. I admire him because of his acting skills. I like how he acted in High School Musical 3. Zac Efron was laid back, calm, and acted as any other popular jock would do. I saw a good change in the way he acted since the first movie. Plus, I think he's really good looking and I admire his relationship with Vanessa Hudgens who plays Gabriella Montez.

One of My Favorite Movies
In this movie, the 2 main characters are Troy Bolton and Gabriella Montez. The setting is in Albuquerque, NM. They embark on a new adventure this time. Troy, Gabriella, and their friends have to prepare for their graduation. Along the way, they have to participate in a spring musical, get ready for prom night, and prepare for graduation. Things go sour when Gabriella attends Berkley College in California for a student program. However, her and Troy eventually find a way to get back to each other.I liked this movie because they were all graduating. I watched High School Musical 1 and 2. I wanted to see how the graduation would be. The twist in this movie was how Sharpay sent in a letter stating that Gabriella accepted the offer to Berkley College. I think that was the perfect twist. The songs in this movie were better than in the other movies. I especially enjoyed the final song at the graduation which was "High school Musical." At the end, a curtain fell down and the main characters stepped up and the words "High school Musical" dropped down.

Welcome to My Blog
Hi, my name is Alexis Garcia. I am an 8th grader at Thurgood Marshall Academy. My favorite class is English because I get to learn about writing and I get to increase my vocabulary. I love to write books. I base my books on the supernatural and even a little bit of fantasy. My birthday is on June 11. At school, Math and Science are challenging subjects for me. Science is the most challenging. These are some facts about me.
